CosyWall Acoustic

We can help reduce noise in your home.

Living in a noisy world makes finding peace and quiet at home a top priority. Whether it’s the rumble of traffic, lively neighbours, or sounds travelling between rooms, noise pollution can quickly disrupt the comfort of your space. Luckily, acoustic wall insulation offers a practical, effective solution. Let’s explore how sound works and why blown insulation is an excellent choice for your home.

Enter the length and height of each wall in metres. Add as many walls as you need and we will total them to calculate the estimated cost for acoustic wall insulation.

This estimate is based on installing CosyWall acoustic insulation at an installed R-Value of R2.2 into a 90mm timber frame wall cavity.

The Perfect Acoustic Insulation

Blown insulation has become an effective way to manage sound in homes. Unlike traditional batts, which can leave gaps, blown insulation fills every inch of a cavity, creating a seamless barrier. Here’s why it works so well:

No Gaps, No Noise

Blown insulation is applied by injecting loose glasswool insulation material into wall cavities. It ensures complete coverage, filling even the tiniest cracks where sound could leak through.

Great for Airborne Sound

Thanks to its density, blown insulation absorbs airborne noise exceptionally well. Conversations, music, and external sounds are significantly muffled, making it ideal for bedrooms, home offices, or living rooms.

Helps Reduce Vibrations

Although impact sound requires additional measures, such as decoupled wall systems, blown insulation can still play a role. Reducing vibrations within wall cavities complements other soundproofing methods.

Thermal Benefits as a Bonus

Many blown insulation materials also provide thermal insulation, keeping your home warm in winter and cool in summer. It’s a win-win for comfort and energy efficiency.

How do we measure sound?

Frequency: This term refers to the pitch of a sound and is measured in Hertz (Hz). High-frequency sounds, like chirping birds, have short wavelengths, while low-frequency sounds, like the rumble of a washing machine, have long wavelengths that are harder to block.

Decibels (dB): Decibels measure how loud a sound is. A whisper might measure 30dB, while a busy street can easily hit 80 dB. For most people, a noise level under 40dB is ideal for a peaceful home.

Sound Types That Cause Trouble

Airborne Sound
Most of us think of this as noise—voices, TV sounds, music, or traffic outside. Airborne sound travels through the air, penetrating walls and ceilings when not adequately insulated. The noise disrupts your concentration or keeps you up at night.

Impact Sound
Impact noise is created by physical vibrations. Footsteps on a wooden floor, a chair scraping, or a door slamming can send sound reverberating through your home’s structure. This noise travels directly through walls, floors, and ceilings, making it harder to control.
