How We Install Wall Insulation into Your Existing Home
Adding insulation to your walls is one of the most effective ways to improve comfort and energy efficiency in your home. At CosyWall, we specialise in retrofitting insulation into existing homes across New Zealand and can be completed with minimal disruption.
Here’s how the CosyWall installation process works.
Step 1: Book a Free Assessment
Every job starts with a free home assessment. One of our trained assessors will inspect your walls, check cavity depth, and identify possible access points and talk through the best way to insulate your walls. You’ll receive a clear quote, a recommended installation plan, and a timeline for the work.
Step 2: Planning the Install
CosyWall can be installed from either the outside or inside of your home. Wherever possible, we install from the exterior by drilling small access holes into the cladding or mortar between bricks. If exterior access isn’t practical, we can install from indoors instead. If this is the case, we’ll let you know in advance and use drop sheets and protective covers to keep your furniture and belongings safe. We’ll also need access to the property while the work is underway.
Step 3: Installing the Insulation
When installing from the outside, insulation is blown into your home through the access holes created in the wall cavity. CosyWall works with a wide range of cladding types, including weatherboard, brick, and more. Any holes made during installation are fully repaired.
The CosyWall system is CodeMark certified, which means we follow a strict and proven installation process.
Whether we’re working from inside or out, the insulation is blown into the cavity under pressure. It completely fills the space, including around pipes and wiring, and leaves no gaps or sagging like you can get with batt or segment style products.
Step 4: Sealing and Restoring
After each wall is filled, we carefully close and seal all access points. Exterior holes are sealed, or re-mortared. Interior holes are replastered and sanded,. We take care to leave your home looking as close to how we found it as possible.
Step 5: Clean Up and Final Check
Before we leave, we carry out a full clean-up and a quality check to ensure every wall has been properly insulated. At the end of the project you’ll receive documentation and an insulation certificate confirming the work has been completed.
The Results You Can Expect
Most homes can be fully insulated in just one day. Larger or more complex installs may take longer, but we’ll let you know in advance so you can plan around it. You don’t need to move out, and we’ll do everything we can to keep disruption to a minimum.
After installing CosyWall, your home will feel warmer in winter, cooler in summer and quieter all year round. You’ll likely notice reduced energy bills and fewer cold spots or draughts. The insulation also helps prevent dampness, condensation and mould by reducing cold wall surfaces.
